The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
If you’re one of those folks who plugs their ears and shame-facedly shouts, “La, la, la!” whenever someone says handmade gifts are the most heartfelt, your world is about to be whirled about because we have the easiest DIY gift idea ever: bolo ties. Not your average macaroni necklace but just as simple to make, this craft project takes all of five minutes to finish and makes a great gift for gals and guys alike.
Check out the unbridled step-by-step tutorial below, then saddle up with supplies at your local craft store or online Western supply outfit and have a little crafting fun!

Another wonderful Holiday or Anytime gift that are easy to make and give you a chance to have fun and be original! I’d probably use polymer clay and inset images or beads/gems instead of the metal brooch, but that’s what makes it so cool! you could use anything! Turquoise and any “cowboy” stuff is traditional BUT the non traditional Is my favorite to make!!! TY for the cool share!
What an AWESOME DIY…those came out so cute!

Where can I find a bolo tie slide?
You don’t need a bolo slide! You can just thread the pin of your brooch through the ties – no gluing OR sliding necessary! I did that in my tutorial here: http://www.chic-steals.com/2012/02/diy-chic-bolo-tie-style-necklace.html
But if you REALLY want a slide…Michael’s *may* carry them, but it may save you time to order online. Fire Mountain Gems (http://www.firemountaingems.com/search/?Keywords=bolo) has a good selection but they come in packs. If you want to buy just one, then Etsy may be the solution.
Hope that helps!
I nabbed mine online. Here are a couple of options: http://bit.ly/VzpNzg and http://bit.ly/11LJCnK
You might also have luck at your local craft store!
Online is wonderful, but you can also macgyver one by shaping a picture-frame hook into the proper shape with plyers. It might be lopsided, but it’d get the job done.
Just wondering———-is it ever ok to wear a bolo tie for ladies with a round necked shirt or cami?
