ModCloth’s Perfect Tea Party Guide!

tea party guide

Hoping to throw a tea party that really takes the cake? Our simple guide to hosting a stylish soiree is as easy as making traditional cucumber tea sandwiches (the straightforward recipe’s below!)

The words “tea party” typically bring to mind images of sweetly sophisticated young ladies, decked out in voluminous crinolines and lace dresses, with bouncing curls and rosy cheeks. Granted, dressing up for any occasion can be more fun than the occasion itself, but nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to hosting your own traditional tea party!

Your house, apartment, or dorm room doesn’t necessarily need a designated Tea Room as part of its floor plan to entertain dapper gents and posh ladies. Instead, procure the necessary furnishings, like the Test the Waters Vase or String of Words Alphabet Discs, pictured below, to ensure your high-class guests feel like they’re in an era when social tea drinking, and and its accompanying accoutrement, are simply the norm!

In addition to preparing a bevy of aromatic, invigorating, therapeutic, and downright delicious teas (we recommend Ceylon white and green varieties), no tea party is complete with out finger foods. Above, please see the recipe (handwritten on the adorbs Keep It in the Family Recipe Box cards) for traditional cucumber tea sandwiches. With a short list of ingredients, and an even shorter list of directions, these easy-to-make, delectable sandwiches, pictured below on the charming Chef’s Choice Plate Set, embody the dainty elegance of a true Victorian affair. And, of course, no tea party is complete with a savory selection of sweets – we recommend the Dozen It Look Yummy Kit to get your creative confection juices flowing!
