Ghostly GIFs to Get You in the Halloween Spirit

Artist Kevin Weir has created a series of ghostly GIFs for art blog Colossal that has us shivering in delight.

Featuring antique and vintage photographs from the Library of Congress, the animations include haunting portraits that reveal a surprisingly ghoulish twist after a beat or two.

Weir’s wonderfully odd portfolio additionally presents work for GE — GIFs of quirky inventions past that never made it to market — as well as music videos.

And a less creepy vibe is found in Weir’s animated images of exotic, sassy birds. Aside from GIFS, ghosts, and birds, Weir notes his interests in his biography to be “…table tennis, mountains, science fiction, surrealist art, popcorn, animation and Jeff Goldblum.”

This countess with spikes-conjuring power is fabulous. Imagine if you had such an outfit on a crowded subway!

What do you think of Weir’s works?
