The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
Look out, DIY fanatics! Comedienne and authority on all things fabulous, Amy Sedaris, is here to set you straight. Whether you’re wondering how to cope with the dangers of a hot glue gun or wondering what to do with that old pair of pantyhose, you won’t be able to get enough of the expertise Amy dishes out in her new book, Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People. We asked Amy about her inspiration and recommendations, and we got more than we bargained for:
What inspired you to share your crafting talents in Simple Times?
The more people I can inspire to make marshmallow stars and donut squirrel feeders, the better.
What crafts will you be giving this holiday season?
I’m into the Klutz potholder kit–that’s all I am making.
What’s one supply no crafter should ever be without?
In the book, you warn of common safety mishaps that occur while crafting. Have you ever fallen victim to a craft gone awry?
Yes–I was making a child’s wind chime using the lids from tuna fish cans. There was blood everywhere, which is why there is an illustration (of the craft) in the book instead of a photograph.
In your opinion, what’s the biggest faux pas a beginning crafter can make?
To think they are good at it.
