It Was a Dark and Stylish Night…

Be it Poe, King, or Craven here at ModCloth we love a good fictional fright! In honor of the National Day of Writing and Halloween, we gathered around the campfire to concoct descriptions inspired by our favorite scary stories. From the bone-chilling beauties to the dangerously dashing, these ghostly garments will delight any lit lover!

For more Halloween fun, check out this year’s Modster Mash! If you’ve already seen the Mash, then tell us: What’s your favorite scary story?

Love it! I think I am obsessed with ruffles this season.

I am a huge fan of Mod Cloth and I would love to feature you guys on my blog. I sent you an email this weekend, but looking back, I am afraid that I sent it to your shipping and return dept. Sorry about that! If you would be interested in a little free publicity from a huge fan, please drop me a note! Thank you!

I always like myself a Nathaniel Hawthorne story this time of year. Not really “scary,” but it always gets me in the October mood.

The Mary Shelley Dress is gorgeous and (dare I say it), the Sweeney Mod Romper actually looks like a romper I’d wear!

The Roald Dahl story “The Landlady” is wonderful! It’s darkly humorous, as all of his stuff is, but with a distinctly young-adolescent and up population in mind. Human taxidermy. Good stuff.

I love this post! Anything Poe ever wrote is always good to bring the hair up on the back of one’s neck.
