With holiday party season upon us, we’re donning our most memorable holiday sweaters, baking up cookies and pies a-plenty, and dreaming up fun new cocktail recipes to share with our nearest and dearest ’round the fireplace. If gingerbread cookies, candy-canes, and the same-old cocktails are wearing out their welcome, why not try something new and make a boozy holiday milkshake? Spiked milkshakes combine two of our favorite things: dessert and fancy drinks!
Today we’re kicking off a short series of spiked milkshake recipes with what we’ve dubbed “The Gingerbread House”. A little spicy, a lot sweet, with a kick of ginger brandy — it’s the perfect thing to whip up with friends at your next seasonal shindig.
‘The Gingerbread House’ Spiked Milkshake
Makes one serving
1 cup eggnog-flavored ice cream
1/2 cup ginger-flavored brandy
Cinnamon (to taste)
Nutmeg (to taste)
Ground or fresh ginger (to taste)
Vanilla (to taste)
1 crushed gingerbread cookie
1 whole gingerbread cookie
1. Scoop a generous portion of ice cream into your blender, we used about 1 cup. Add the brandy.
2. Add the spices and the vanilla to the ice cream and brandy, to taste. More spices will result in a more pronounced “gingerbread” flavor.
3. Add the crushed up gingerbread cookie and blend on high until combined.
4. Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream and the whole gingerbread cookie. Enjoy!
