The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
When my friend, Abby, first sent me this hefty book by Jonathan Faiers, it seemed too good to be true: an entire book devoted entirely to tartan? No way! After spending hours paging through its gorgeously photo-enhanced chapters, I learned more than I ever thought possible about the history and significance of this lovable pattern. Did you know tartan was once believed to ward off evil spirits? Me either!
As I have discovered, Berg Publishers has a ton of cool books, many of which are centered in fashion and fashion theory. In addition to publishing books like Tartan, Berg also publishes scholarly journals, including Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body and Culture. This monthly periodical is filled with brilliant essays, interviews and exhibition reviews; for example, the June 2008 issue that I’m paging through right now features an investigative essay by Val Williams concerning the relationship between fashion photography and the museum. Green girls take note – the theme of the latest issue is Eco-Fashion!

I whole book dedicated to tartan?! This I must see.
Thanks for the website link. There is so many amazing articles and insights to experience on this sight! Do you have a subscription to either Fashion Theory or Fashion Practice? I was wondering if you feel they are worth purchasing. I’m looking for a subscription that focuses exclusively on fashion and doesn’t include all the frivolity that I get in Vogue, etc.
