An Exclusive Photo Diary and Free Music Download from Lanie Lanie

If you haven’t yet heard of Lanie Lane, trust us, it’s only a matter of time before she’s all over your playlists. The smoky-voiced Sydney songstress has held the attention of the Aussie music scene since winning Triple J’s Unearthed competition for new talent in 2010, and it’s not hard to see why. With her sassy, retro-tinged sound – Lanie describes herself as a cross between Muddy Waters, Doris Day, and The Andrew Sisters – and adorable vintage wardrobe and victory rolls, Lanie is poised to take the world by storm.

As she continues on her first big tour, we asked Lanie for a report from the road. Keep reading for an exclusive photo diary from Lanie’s tour, and nab a free download of her song “Like Me Meaner”!

“I’m sitting at my old dresser, getting ready for my show tonight… I can be a tough one, but I love doing my make-up and stuff. [MAC Cosmetics’] Ruby Woo is the best matte, red lipstick I’ve ever found; it never comes off onto microphones – very important for a singer!”

“Adding the details before I leave. A headscarf is my usual accessory.”

“Trying to get myself and this gear to the gig at [Sydney’s] Goodgod Small Club. Where have all the taxis suddenly gone?!”

“Typical me, always leaving the set list ’til the last minute. Luckily, I keep the old ones in my guitar case so I can get ideas!”

“Going crazy onstage. So happy we sold out the show! Love that people are dancing too. Doesn’t get any better, really!”
