Bachelorette Party

This spring, I traveled to Washington D.C. to see one of my favorite bands, Beach House, perform tracks from their latest album, dream pop sensation Teen Dream. What I didn’t expect was New Zealand band Bachelorette, who opened the concert with ebullient electro-pop songs that have been stuck in my head ever since. Tracks like “Complex History of a Dying Star” (above), overwhelm the ears with layered self-harmonies and synthetic sweetness, while “Donkey” and “Do the Circut” make me feel strangely nostalgic, like the way you feel after watching a Sofia Coppola movie.

Have you discovered any noteworthy openers? Share your music suggestions with us in the comments below!

I think the best band I discovered as an opener was As Tall As Lions. Then I heard Tears of Mars when they opened for As Tall As Lions 🙂

I was seeing an amazing band, fun. in San Francisco. A band “Audrye Sessions” opened for them. As you looked around at the crowd, all jaws were dropped. They were incredible. There were about 10 people onstage at least, from the upright bass and the violins to the mandolin and the electric guitarist/lead singer playing guitar with a violin bow!!! INCREDIBLE. AUDRYE SESSIONS: Check them out! Especially the track “Where you’ll find me”

A friend of mine had an extra ticket to a “second hand serenade” concert last year and of course i took it. The singer who’s name i cant remember is amazing and i love his music and would recommend his music to everyone. however he is not the noteworthy singer im writing about. I went to the concert excited for second hand serenade, but left in complete awe and unable to forget about one of the opening bands by the name of “Meg and Dia”. A couple of sisters and their band. phenomenal music and stories that reach out to absolutely everyone, and everything is so so catchy.
