Go on an intergalactic ride with “Beautiful People” by American music duo The Books. After a five-year hiatus, their album The Way Out, in which each track “needs to sound like it comes from its own universe,” is set to release July 20!
After listening to “Beautiful People,” you might wonder what just happened. The answer is best described by vocalist Nick Zammuto, who calls it “a sort of euro-disco-trash beat, an orchestra’s worth of sampled brass and lyrics about the twelfth root of two, trigonometry and tangrams.” Still can’t wrap your head around the math? Check out The Books’ Tumblr, where you can read more personal commentary from the musicians themselves, in addition to the “super nerdy” lyrics to the song.
