We’ve been whisked away to a wild and wintry world with today’s official release of 50 Words for Snow, Kate Bush’s tenth full-length album. Just in time for the season, these seven songs from the eccentric English songstress are all centered around a snowy theme.
Ever-enchanting and exotic, fairylike and funky, Kate has always been in her own element, and this new album gives us yet another reason to love this talented, influential lady.
For over three decades, she’s been one of the most successful female solo performers out there, and by ‘out there,’ we’re also referring to her very-contrary-to-the-ordinary allure. Her style has always been just as unique and iconic as her sound. You can’t hear her voice without envisioning the rest of the image — the wild hair, expressive eyes, and dramatic dancewear — that so often accompanies it.

At times rich and fantastical, contemplative and complex, 50 Words for Snow treks through a frosty wilderness with Kate’s uncommon and unmistakable voice leading the way. It features her signature vocals and piano playing amidst some surprises, like a duet with Elton John and a quirky spoken work collaboration with actor Stephen Fry.
