Listen to Le Butcherettes

Le Butcherettes‘ leading lady, “Teri Gender Bender” cuts the image of the Fifties housewife into an oblivion, one rip-rockin’ song at a time. Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Teri and a fellow bandmate blew up the Mexican underground music scene by putting on shows dressed in ’50s women’s fashions accompanied by a heckuva performance.  After a riff in their vision, Teri split from her bandmate to head up Le Butcherettes, with Gabe Serbian on drums and Jonathan Hischke on bass and keyboards. Change is good though – tune into “Henry Don’t Got Love,” or “New York” for slick sounds reminiscent to that of The Kills or The Sounds.

Visit their Bandcamp page to hear their first full album, Sin Sin Sin, which went live on May 10. Sure, girly indie rock is lovely and all, but every now and then when you get the urge to spice up your song rotation, just crank up the tunes of Le Butcherettes and push play.

Hm, thanks for the rec, it’s definitely catchy 😉 Reminds me of a bit of the hives, or the white stripes. that’s a good thing. I have a soft spot for the Donnas, myself..
