Bedrooms are the ultimate sanctuary. You can spend all day at a luxurious spa or an afternoon walking around a beautiful park, but there’s always one place you return for refuge: the place you sleep. We believe in creating a space that nurtures you, takes you in, and empowers you to meditate, journal, and just be. To help you create a bedroom that’s inviting and peaceful, consider incorporating the following elements.
A reason humans love being outdoors so much is because nature conjures up a true sense of calmness. Bring that to your bedroom with a potted plant. We’re partial to succulents and cacti, so this aloe does the trick. Maybe you prefer an orchid or dripping ivy. Put your plant in a pretty planter – such as this vintage one we picked up at the thrift store – for an extra sweet touch.
The Warmth of a Candle
Candles provide multiple levels of calmness. For starters, their flicker gives off a soft and ambient glow that soothes you and makes for prettier lighting. They also smell amazing and can be housed in beautiful vessels. Pictured here is our To Aroma, With Love Candle, made by Paddywax. Bonus: Once you’ve burned this candle, the jar can be repurposed however you want.
Elements That Ground You
In addition to a living, breathing plant, try to incorporate other “grounding” tokens into your space. For example, pictured above is a glass box full of multi-colored stones. You don’t get much closer to the ground than that!
Something to Write In
You never know when inspiration will hit you. Our Ambitious Addition Notebook by Kate Spade New York is spiral-bound, but has a cover on it to prevent snagging if you want to carry it around with you. Use it for journaling, organizing, or doodling.
A Calming Beverage
Sipping on hot tea somehow always manages to settle your mind and bring you to a place of contentment. We recommend an herbal tea in the evenings to join you and your journal. Placing it in a pretty mug – like our Most Spiky to Succeed Mug & Saucer – will make your heart happy, too.
A Cozy Sleeping Space
We subscribe to the notion that a bed can never have too many pillows. Pick a color scheme that makes you smile and stick with it. Pictured here is our Take All Necessary Pre-Cushions Pillow, which brightens up any space. Also, be thoughtful in your bedding selection. A white comforter, for example, gives you a blank slate to decorate.
