This St. Patrick's Day DIY Is as Good as Gold

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, as is the promise of St. Patty’s celebrations filled with hearty party fare. Whether you’re hosting friends or heading to a friend’s, consider crafting one of these centerpieces for the snack table! The colorful flowers and ombre vase give the typical pot o’ gold motif a sophisticated twist, and make for a gift any hostess would feel lucky to receive!

What You Need:

  • Short glass vases
  • Gold glitter spray paint
  • Bouquet of rainbow flowers
  • Kitchen shears

Step 1

In a ventilated area (outside is best), spray paint your vase using even strokes. The first coat will be relatively sheer, but don’t fret. Once it’s dry, you can repeat the process, building up the opacity of the glitter however you’d like.

Step 2

Trim your stems according to the depth of your vase. By the way, we found our ROYGBIV array at the grocery store for under $10. Can’t find rainbow flowers? Try putting white flowers in colored water overnight for a DIY palette of pastels.

Step 3

Fill your vase with water, and plop your flowers into place. Arrange them however you’d like — we mixed all of the colors together, but you could also create rows of hues to capture a real rainbow effect.
