What are the must-see places in Bucharest?
You must visit the National Village Museum — it’s like going through the history of the country in one place. Then there is the old city center, which is the place to go if you want to go to a club or pub but not be bothered by traffic. Besides the good food and music, the buildings are old, and you’ll have a chance to check out the architecture as well. You may also want to visit The House of the People, which is the Palace of the Parliament. It was built during the communist era in Romania.
Do not forget that Dracula has his roots here — visit Bran Castle. Also two beautiful, curvy roads through the mountains happen to be in Romania: Transfagarasan, which appeared in the TV show Top Gear UK, and Transalpina.
What is your favorite Romanian dish?
My favorite Romanian dish is called Bulz Moldovenesc, which is a grilled ball of polenta with cheese inside. The best sweet dish is called Papanasi, which is Romanian donuts with homemade sour cream and jam.
How would you describe the people of Romania?
Friendly to strangers, resourceful, and helpful.
Last year, you mentioned having some anxiety about turning 30 in 2015. Looking back on this year and becoming one year wiser, how have you and your style evolved?
This year, I turned 30, and just for that I made a special photo shoot to remind me and everyone else that age does not matter. You decide how old you want to feel. I choose to feel young & pretty, not to mention stylish as ever 🙂
I think my style has always been a little bit different than what you normally see on the streets, because I choose to wear bold colors and combinations. I will keep on doing that, no matter what the trends are saying. I like being different, I think that is what make me authentic. I’ve evolved by trying always to find more unique combinations of colors and patterns. Thrifting has become my favorite sport — it’s the perfect way to find items nobody has.
