Ah, Paris. As springtime – the city’s most storied season – approaches, we’ve been pining for a Parisian holiday. Well, since we can’t exactly whisk ourselves over there right this very moment, perhaps the next best thing is taking a sentimental journey back to this lovely, lively place in another era.
We found an amazing hardcover vintage book called Le Livre de Paris (Arts et Métiers, Paris, 1957), featuring photography by Janine Niepce and commentary by Georges Charensol. As if that cool colorblocked cover – pictured above – wasn’t enough to make you exclaim, “Ooh, la la!,” its contents are even more captivating. Have a look at these beautiful monochrome photographs covering the spectrum of city life:
C’est très magnifique, no?

The second to the last one made me double take for a second, as I thought it was from “Funny Face” (definitely Audrey Hepburn style)! These are all so neat!
Similar to photos of my french mother that I treasure!
