I always thought my childhood bookmark collection was pretty impressive until I ran into A Collection a Day. Created by San Franciscan artist Lisa Congdon, this daily blog features either a photograph or drawing of some sort of collection. The photographed collections are ones that already exist in her (surprisingly uncluttered) studio and home, while the drawn or painted ones are imagined.
“I do not profess to be doing anything new or unique or ingenious,” Congdon writes on her blog. “I am embarking on this project because I love my collections, and I want to document them in a way that makes sense to me, and share them with whoever might be interested in looking at them.” Congdon also encourages readers to share their own memories or thoughts on each day’s collection, essentially turning the blog itself into a collection of sorts — an online, communal collection of memories and reactions.
Do you collect anything? If so, what?
