What to Wear: On a Road Trip

There’s nothing quite like hitting the open road with your BFFs and an awesome playlist. A world of opportunity lies in front of you! Priceless memories will be made. Bucket list items will be crossed off.

But…there is one conundrum: what to wear? Logging hours in a car requires comfort, but hitting hot spots along the way requires chic! Don’t sweat it — the ModStylists are here to help with three plum perfect looks for three terrific road trips.

Destination: Roadside Attractions

The world’s biggest ball of twine in Cawker City, Kansas. The shoe tree in Hinckley, Utah. The Santa Claus Museum in Santa Claus, Indiana. You’ll be snapping photos in front of ’em all! So, you need an outfit that’s casual-cool, and will lend itself well to selfies (obvs).

For this, we opted for a sweet shirt dresssneakers with an eye-catching print, sleek sunglasses, a roomy carryall big enough to fit souvenirs from every stop, and a striped scarf (in case of hair emergencies). Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget a camera for capturing all the extraordinary sights, and a journal for on-the-road reflections.

Destination: Wine Country

If you find yourself singing, “Napa, Sonoma, ooooh, I wanna go-a!” then a trip to wine country is in order. Whether you’re cruising to a spot along the coast or high up in the hills, you need an outfit that can go from comfy cruisin’ to sippin’ pretty in a snap.

Our ModStylists know just the thing: a romantic rosy-peach dress, walkable wedge heels, a dreamy rose gold-faced watch, and a bold bag that adds a pop of personality to an otherwise neutral ensemble. And don’t forget to bring along your favorite lippie for a post-vino touch-up!

Destination: The Shore

Do you get that giddy, last-day-before-summer-break feeling the night before a trip to the beach? Us, too. If your final stop is the seashore, you need an outfit that lets you run straight from the driver’s seat to the sand.

What does Angel suggest for this one? A bright ‘n’ beachy layered look! Start with a colorful retro-inspired swimsuit, then add sleek high-waisted shorts, a terrific tie-waist top, and super-cute jelly sandals. Finishing off the ensemble: chic sunnies, a luxe beach blanket, and sunscreen, of course.
