When there’s work to be done, you need the right space to do it. From your favorite pen and notebook to the perfect playlist in your ears, your desk essentials makes all the difference.
For Forrest, one of Vendor Operations Associates, her workspace is all about organization and personality — two important things that keep her on track throughout the day. But her absolute must-haves? She put it best. “Coffee and headphones. Always coffee. Always headphones.” Let’s see what else comprises her fun and essential desk elements!
Forrest loves a good adventure, so she brings the Great Outdoors to her workspace. With richly colored National Park prints, a plant or two, a cute otter mug, and an ultra-bold, faux steer skull hanging on the wall, she creates a stimulating environment beyond the world of her computer. She’s especially fond of camping these days and says, just last week, she got to explore the Allegheny National Forest for her birthday! “Camping teaches you to be self reliant and aware of your surroundings, as well as the impact you can have on nature. And it’s cheap!” Well, you certainly don’t have to tell me twice.
Another important part of Forrest’s workday? Music! In the sometimes rambunctious setting of a busy office, staying focused via good headphones and better music is a must. When she tunes in to her favorite tunes (MF Doom, Daikaiju, and Vince Staples as of late) she can really hone in on her productivity. And, of course, there’s always that coveted mug of coffee when she needs that extra jolt to propel her through the day.
Staying organized is an integral part of Forrest’s day, and, to stay on top of her tasks, she employs folders and notepads galore! Now, these sticky notes aren’t all business. Sometimes, the most important part of your desk is personalization, and Forrest does just that.
When she first started her job, Forrest and her team relied heavily on physical flags and notes whenever an issue arose with a style. “You’d usually leave a sticky note on the style with the next action needed written on it.” Forrest started drawing on hers and the results were downright adorable. A bit of personality goes a long way, from fostering creativity to positivity and, in the end, productivity!
