Spend the Day with Godzilla (He’s a Yogi at Heart)

When your last film premiere was all the way back in 1998, it’s understandable that you might be a little nervous about the upcoming release. After all, it’s hard enough to find a suit worthy of walking the red carpet, but top that off with scaly skin, a habit of taking out entire cities with one sneeze, and a reputation for striking fear into the hearts of all who cross your path — well, that’s a recipe for anxiety right there.

To see how Godzilla‘s prepping for his big day (“Godzilla” hits the silver screen on May 16th), we caught up with the monster himself. Turns out, he relaxes the same way many of us do: French press coffee and a little morning yoga to get the blood flowing.

7:00 a.m. After a cup of strong coffee (he currently favors a darker roast) and the morning sports section (he’s a big fan of college basketball), ‘Zill heads out into his sunny front lawn for a few stretches. Once he’s charged up and ready to tackle the day, he focuses on his #ootd.

10:00 a.m. After spending a fair amount of time in the mirror, he settles on a classic knit tie of deep navy. He finds it contrasts beautifully with his pine-y complexion.

6:00 p.m. Once he completes the rest of his afternoon rituals, which typically involves demolishing poorly constructed buildings and telephone poles, he’s ready to kick his feet up and head to the theater. “If I weren’t already deep into my career as a monster, I would’ve pursued acting,” he tells ModCloth.
