This week, I made a purchase that I’ve been thinking about for a long time.

I bought a wig.

No, my hair isn’t falling out and no, I haven’t come down with a case of crazy (ala Britney Spears). I just missed having longer, darker hair and, considering the cost of hair extensions and the potential damage of repeated dyeing, it seemed like the most sensible option. Here’s the result…

What do you think? I can’t wait to wear it out and totally confuse all of my friends.

Also – the wig shop that I purchased from was totally amazing and creepy! They even had fake mustaches (which I seriously considered buying, just for the novelty…)

Aw, it’s a nice wig! That shop is a little odd, however, if it meant getting a mustache like that, I’d rough it. Fun pictures; thanks for sharing!

I can’t believe I missed the wig! I’m so disappointed. Looks good though, Incognito Susan.

wig shops are terrifying. all of the ones in my town are run by sassy black ladies, and they eye you up if you come in for a weave.

good for you, you found a wig you like.
i think it’s easier when you have hair already.
i tried to find one when i was bald from breast cancer chemo,
    but it wasn’t as fun

    Maddi, Emily, Katherine: Thanks!

Mally: The lady at this shop was kind of scary, too. I think she deals with a lot of kids who just want to come in, take pictures in wigs, and never buy anything

mod*mom: I can imagine that needing and wanting a wig are very, very different experiences. I’m sorry to hear about your cancer; there are a few women in my extended family that have had to deal with similar issues and it’s certainly not easy. Thanks for sharing with us.
