Meet Maggie

Nice to meet you! I’m so excited to be writing for the ModCloth blog because it gives me the chance to communicate with all you ModCloth gals (and guys). I’m really looking forward to reading your blog comments and I hope you email me at with your own stylish stories, weekend adventures, and collection commentary!

Here’s a little bit about me:

Although I like to be comfortable, I have a flair for the dramatic that dictates much of my wardrobe. I love tall boots, high heels, bright colors, and stand-out jewelry. Rumor has it that I even own a completely sequined tank or two… I dream of one day going to Fashion Week in Paris (keep your fingers crossed) because I can’t imagine anything more exhilarating than witnessing the debut of a collection from Balenciaga or Margiela. And I bet the parties are fun, too!

But high-end designers aren’t the true source of my style inspiration. My mom is my biggest influence because she has always had a penchant for taking risks. I have memories of her making earrings out of plastic fruit and affixing real Christmas lights to her holiday ensembles. She has always encouraged me to be myself, no matter how strange it may look to the less adventurous (I’m wearing a hot pink boa in my Kindergarten school picture), and although we don’t wear the same shoe size (which is a shame because she has boots in nearly every color), I’m lucky that she has passed on plenty of clothing and accessories to me over the years, including a vintage patent leather Gucci tote and a tweed dress set from the 1960s! If someone compliments me on what I’m wearing, chances are that – if it isn’t from ModCloth – it once belonged to my mother.

I love working at ModCloth, because I believe we emphasize the same type of self-expression and individualism that my mother always encouraged. Instead of trying to make you follow the latest trends, ModCloth hopes that you wear what makes you happy – sequined tanks and all!

Hey Maggie! It’s great to have a more personal blog and hear what inspires you. I’d have to say that my mom is a big fashion inspiration too. I love getting vintage stuff from her…and just raiding her closet. I too would love to go to a fashion week, or just get into fashion in general. 🙂

Hi Maggie! Your mom sounds great and I wish I could have worn a pink boa in my school picture, kindergarten no less! Looking forward to reading your posts!

MAGS. Don’t forget to mention when your mother sent you a headdress senior year so you could be Carmen Miranda for Halloween. It was oustanding.
