In addition to our excitement over tomorrow’s final item, we’re also eager to announce the winning names of last week’s items!
Congratulations to Rae, the winner of North Poll Name It and Win It Day 7, with her title, Tree Hugger Trash Can. Her truly original name rocked the polls!
Congratulations to Channing, the winner of North Poll Name It and Win It Day 8. Her name, Immaculate Confection Dress, was cute, clever, and a little mouth-watering.
Congratulations to Angela M., the winner of North Poll Name It and Win It Day 9. She named this stylish red bag the “Eat, Drink, and Be Berry Bag.” Very cute, Angela!
And finally, congratulations to Amanda G.! Her name for the North Poll Name It and Win It Day 10, Bitter-tweet Symphony Necklace, offers a bit of nostalgia with a dash of delight!
Thank you so much for playing! Don’t forget to submit names for the final nameless item tomorrow afternoon, right here in our ModLife blog.

Okay, I don’t get “Courtney Love it” or “The Baby Grandeur” dress. Someone help?
Guessing that “Courtney Love It” is named after Hole rocker/Kurt Cobain’s girlfriend Courtney Love, who must have worn something similar, and “Baby Grandeur” references baby grand pianos.
P.S. Just for the record, I love the names that made it today!
Baby Grandeur = a play on the words Baby Grand, as in a piano.
Courney Love It might have to do with the b&w Lagerfeld dress, but I’m not totally sure.
*sigh* My dreams of winning are crushed again. 😉
I don’t really like the names. I think there were much better names posted 🙁
Like who really wants a dress named after the trashiest woman in Hollywood? Not me!
But I respect the person who chose the names, I just felt the need to voice my opinion.
Hah, I felt the same way yesterday Rachel, and I certainly didn’t mean to insult MC. Their selection process is the fairest they could come up with, and fun for everyone. We just need more outlets for our creativity 🙂
(And more than one person chooses the final 5, I believe. There is a post or comment about it somewhere.)
Julie, you’re right. The process is fair. I just wish they could have a poll with like 7-10 names instead of just five. I think that’d be more fun!
I also have to agree that I am disappointed with the choices on the poll. Best of luck to those who had their names chosen though!
i think my comment with the names never got posted 🙁
I agree, I think 10-15 names would be better. No offense to the names chosen, but I do think there were better names out there, and more choices would be beneficial.
I’m in the same boat as you talia. I’m mad cause I posted my comment with the names last night and it still said comment awaiting moderation. So i posted another comment this morning saying,”Please check my last comment! etc. etc.” And it looks like that comment went through but not the one with my three titles. And they were good names too! ;_; So I feel like I didn’t even get a fair chance at winning. And i’m afraid ialso have to agree with some of the other people that i dont like the ones they picked out.there were definitely much better names posted.
And just for the record my comment still says awaiting moderation in the old post. >.<
Seems like what y’all are really saying is that you’re mad/sad/disgruntled that the ModCloth staff didn’t pick your ideas… (I get it – they didn’t pick any of mine either!)
First, the judging is 100% subjective. There’s no right and wrong answer to what name is “better” than another.
Second, sour grapes aren’t going to earn you any sympathy from the ModBloggers or your fellow contest entrants! Just be even more creative next time!
Third, by complaining, you run the risk that ModCloth will decide these contests are more hassle than they’re worth and stop them altogether… And who wants that?
Okay, since another Rachel commented, I thought I’d make myself clear: I am the first Rachel to comment and I love the “Seven Year Stitch” name, even if I didn’t vote for it. 🙂
I just don’t think these are very clever names. I like As Lovely As They Cummerbund Dress, but the rest are lacking.
Here, here Ashlee M.
I hope ModCloth doesn’t decide to stop the contests! They’re fun in and of themselves, especially for those of us in school who are doing finals and need a way to procrastinate …
I am happy for those people who got their names picked, and no offense but I agree with some of the others. I saw some much more clever names than these.
Thanks for announcing the winners of the past Name It and Win It contests!
I’m so excited about my Tree Hugger Trash Can!
Hi Candace and talia,
If it was your first time making a comment on the ModLife blog, it will not show up until it is moderated. We have someone here working very hard to make sure the comments make it through in time for submission, being it was the weekend, there may have been a delay. I apologize that you feel like you have not been given a fair chance. If you check back tomorrow at 10:30am EST, you will have another chance to submit your names.
Oh wow, well thanks so much for even including my submission in this poll!- I honestly couldn’t believe it! There really were so many amazing names thought of for this one. =)
I’m not a huge fan of most of these… I read through a bunch yesterday and liked some of those a ton more than these…
Awww, I didn’t know someone else already said Seven Year Stitch! Oh well, it’s not winning anyway, so I didn’t lose anything.
I am very happy that they hold contests like this, yet I agree with many of you, that there were definitely better names that unfortunately went unnoticed.
This is my favorite of all the articles so far! Wow, what a lovely dress, so many pleats…
Here are my names for your consideration;
“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas”
“Its Not Always Black and White”
“The Tristful Harpist” ( you know, all those gentle lines like rows of strings on a harp!)
oops! Just saw that it was already up for vote!!!!
Frockin’ around the Christmas Tree
Go Courtney bring the kinder whore baby doll look back ! Stop trashing Courtney she is one of the only real rocker women left ! Go away Miley , Taylor and of the mindless and talentless pop garbage out there infestering plyable stupid minds! Go Courtney love keeping it real ! ! !
