The Style Gallery is a great new way for you to view, love, and share outfit photos. It’s meant to showcase all the expressive, creative, and inspirational personalities of our community!
Our Apartment-buying duo, Emily and Marne, are giving you a sneak peek of upcoming decor goods with this, the first-ever Decor Edition of Tales from the Road! They’ve sent along pictures and news from their trip to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and National Stationery Show in New York City!
Amongst hundreds of exhibitors, they came across a few favorites, exciting newcomers, and a number of potential ModCloth exclusives to add to your home assortment. Hold onto your seats, because we have some pretty cool stuff to show you!
This is one of multiple artist-designed chairs from the Umbra booth. Artists showcased their one of a kind works on blank Oh Chair “canvases,” and visitors were encouraged to participate, as well!
Marne, a self proclaimed pen pal and stationery enthusiast, emphasized that her buying mission was to revive the act of long-hand correspondence. By choosing a selection of irresistible stationery, she wants to encourage letter writing, mentioning that “Mail is the new email, and it means so much more to receive a hand written note. It’s like receiving a present in your mailbox!” In addition to our LCD Notesystem and Old School Letter Set, the above pen case and Shinzi Katoh-designed note set should be a good start in the ‘write’ direction!
Who’s there? Oh, it’s one of our favorite vendors! Expect to see more clever goodies from a “High Five” tablet to “Roadtrip Bingo” from Knock Knock soon!
Bringing you “critters and fanciful florals,” this display couldn’t be more ‘owl’dorable!
There’s also the Artemis booth, which is always a pencil-in. Marne’s favorite item was a translucent writing utensil zip case with a fluorescent heart pocket on the outside to hold small notes!

Lastly, what would a trip be without a bite to eat? To replenish after a long day, no fuel surpasses Lula’s Sweet Apothecary in the Lower East Side. For those who are vegan, eco-conscious, or simply lovers of a fresh frozen treat, Lula’s boasts being LES’s “First, natural, non-dairy, & vegan frozen dessert shop.” They offer vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and organic goodies served with compostable silverware and napkins. How sweet is that?
Do you have a space that could use a little spiffy-ing up? What decor items would you like to see land on our site in the near future?
Tales from the Road
I am a big fan of letter writting as well, just this week one of my younger cousins mailed my husband and I a picture that he drew and it really made my day. Also when my good friend was finishing her masters we mailed letters and mini care packages back and forth all the time.
Looking forward to the rest of your new finds….thanks for a look at your adventure 😀
Oh my gosh that chair is amazing!!!!!
ahh i would looove to be thereee!
so cool! ohh i love homewares.
Oh my! I NEED TO GO THERE!
I really hope you all enjoy some of the stationery that has been trickling in. It’s not that I dislike technology (I’m admittedly lost without my iPhone + texting), but writing letters means so much more to me! I have a love for pens + cute letter sets unlike any other, and getting to see people’s handwriting gives me a thrill!
Next time you find yourself staring at the internet for too long (much like I do), break out any kind of paper you can find, decorate it with stickers + stamps, and write a love note to your BF, GF, or BFF just to show them how thoughtful you are!! Maybe you’ll get one in return! <3
