Every now and then, we all need a little advice – especially when it comes to fashion. At ModCloth, we’re lucky enough to have a secret weapon at our disposal, willing to answer all of our style-related questions: ModCloth stylist, Vasil! Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, Vasil majored in Studio Art at Duquesne University right here in Pittsburgh. His vast experience in the world of fashion includes working as a costume designer and styling for a major clothing retailer.
Meet Vasil, the man behind the ModCloth look:
“Ever since I can remember, I have been passionate about fashion. Fashion design and styling have become an essential part of my life in the past 11 years, especially after attending fashion design school. My experience has led me to discover that the only rule in fashion is that there are no limits.
I believe that these are the two quotes that best describe what the art of fashion is:
‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening,’ (Coco Chanel)
‘One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art’ (Oscar Wilde).”
Now that you know a little bit more about Vasil, let’s see what he has to say about wearing ModCloth outerwear this season:
The Velvet Underground Jacket is an example of a jacket with 3/4 length sleeves that can be made more suitable for colder weather by adding accessories. Long gloves, such as the Prim and Proper Gloves, will keep your hands and forearms cozy while adding an elegant touch. Jackets with 3/4 sleeves also allow you to show off your favorite bracelets, cuffs and watches!
The Royal Family Secret Jacket looks great with long gloves, such as the Glam and Rocker Gloves, but the best part of this jacket is its reversibility! A cute hat (such as the Neat Knit Hat) and scarf (like the Painted Deserted Bandanna) completes this daytime look.
Another piece of outerwear that transitions from fall to winter with ease is the Little Plaid Riding Hood Coat. A long-sleeved tee, sweater or cardigan, such as the Fit to be Tied Cardigan, paired with gloves (like the Eddystone Wool Gloves), will warm you up while updating your style!
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you need to stick to blacks and greys. California Dreamin Coat is a fabulous way to introduce a splash of bright color into your cold weather wardrobe. Pair with a knit beret, Super Cardigan and matching bag – and don’t forget those booties!
