A beautiful couple with a beautiful story! LA-based baker, Megan, shares the fun details of how she first met her husband, Alex, and her favorite moment from their special day.

Tell us how you met.
We were both at the Ocktoberfest thrown at Alpine Village in Torrance, Ca. Both of our groups were next to each other. I thought he was cute, so I struck up a conversation. We ended up spending the rest of the night talking to each other. He even (jokingly) proposed to me and started planning our “wedding” that night. We didn’t end up actually dating for a year and a half, but it was worth the wait.

Describe your spouse in 5 words.
Funny, intelligent, supportive, creative, handsome

As a baker, did you design your own wedding cake or let someone else do the honors?
We live in Los Angeles, and traveled out to New Orleans to get married, because it’s a very special place to us. It wasn’t really possible to make my own cake, so I did some research, and found a great bakery out there. We each chose a small cake that we thought sounded good and they were both delicious (his choice was the best). We did have a reception back in LA a few months later, and I made not 1, but 3 cakes as well as mini desserts for our dessert table.

What was your favorite moment from the day?
There was so much to love, but I was most grateful to have my dad there to walk me down the “aisle.” He was fighting cancer, and we lost him less than 6 months later. It wouldn’t have been the same without him.

Any sage advice for other brides-to-be?
Don’t stress out so much. Something will probably go wrong, but there is always a solution. This is your day to marry the person you love, this should always be #1, everything else is secondary.

Congrats, Megan and Alex! Thank you for sharing with us!!
