When we spotted this cute and stylish couple on Instagram, we just knew we had to get in touch! Here, I ask Regena about meeting her wife, Amanda, and get the details on how they planned for the big day.
Tell us how you met.
We met on Tinder about 1,000 miles away from Chicago (where Amanda was living and where I’m originally from). We had a great conversation about theatre and literature and then I accidentally deleted my account. 4 months later I popped up on Amanda’s (someone you might know) list because of 1 mutual friend. They added me and messaged me right away. I booked a trip to Chicago that week. 6 weeks later my company offered me a job in Chicago and it felt pretty darn “meant to be.”
Was wedding planning stressful or a total piece of cake?
We are the ultimate productive procrastinators so we got engaged with 14 months to plan and did most of the planning in the last 6 weeks before the wedding. Luckily, we’re both easy going people and we knew what we wanted it to look and feel like and everything came together with the help of our amazing wedding party.
What were you looking for in a wedding dress?
I had seen the Gilded Grace Dress right before we got engaged and as soon as the proposal happened, I didn’t even try other dresses on. I ordered it right away. Before the wedding I ordered 2 other “backup dresses” but none of them had the affect that the first one did.
Any fun, spontaneous, totally unexpected moments on the big day?
It’s a wedding so you expect people to enjoy themselves. What I didn’t expect was the number of people still talking about how wonderful it was to this day. Most of our wedding party had never met as they’re from Florida, California, Maryland, Minnesota, Illinois and Thailand but since they got along so well, I love seeing them keep in contact on Facebook and making an effort to see each other when they’re in each other’s corner of the world. It was like the best summer camp ever. We’re talking about having a reunion this year.
Describe the best part about married life.
We’ve worked really hard to cultivate the kind of relationship that we both wanted and every time one of us says the word ‘Wife’ it feels like a win.
Congrats Regena and Amanda! Thank you for sharing your story with us.
